I believe it was slammed by critics because it didn't bring anything new to the table, it simply mixed and matched portions of other games and failed to establish it's own identity/gameplay style.
Games have moved on nowadays, pink balls are no longer the greatest threat to gamers, it's a shame Nier hadn't seemed to grasp this.
But then again, I'm not a massive fan of this kind of RPG. So perhaps I missed something.

We (normal users) are still getting firmware updates and new features, but if that proposed idea was to go ahead then I'm worried that it wouldn't be long before parts of, if not eventually all firmware updates will be strictly for PS+ users.

The lack of cross game chat really isn't something to complain about.

It doesn't however make-up for the lack of new ip's on the system. The trouble with the Wii is that I've been Donkey Kong and Mario 75 times before, we need something new.

Fighting games, yes.. RPG's, I doubt it.
Currently there's no way to get a character to move forwards with Kinect.
And the only RPG combat I can see working with Kinect is turn based, but even then RPG's tend to be played for longer stretches at a time than other games, so wouldn't it feel more like a chore than fun to have to wave your arms around for everything, for so long?

Started it again the other day, didn't try archery at all the first time around, so thought I'd give it a go this time.
I'm enjoying it more so far than my last melee/mage character.
Hopefully there's more than 2 voice actors in Skyrim.

It's not a bad game by any stretch, but it's not what was promised. Which was a game that changed course depending on the decisions you make throughout it.

Try it out for yourself, nothing you do in that game sends you down a different path.
He's right to SOME degree, but only about the lack of real choices in the game.
Nothing you do up until the last few scenes changes how the game plays out.
Yes you can kill off the odd character, but it doesn't send you down a different path after doing so, all actions early on lead you to the same conclusion.
He isn't, however, right to have put it on this list.
